Dr. Faisal Parlindungan, SpPD‑KR, is a rheumatologist, clinician, and academic based in Jakarta, Indonesia. He completed his medical education at the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Sumatera Utara, earning his General Practitioner degree in 2008, followed by a Master of Clinical Medicine (2010–2014) and the Internal Medicine Specialty Program (2010–2015). He later completed his Rheumatology Subspecialty training at the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Indonesia in 2019. Since 2019, Dr. Faisal has served as a Lecturer at the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Indonesia, contributing to undergraduate and postgraduate medical education. His clinical roles are extensive. He is a rhematologist at Universitas Indonesia Hospital (2019–present) and a staff physician in the Division of Rheumatology, Department of Internal Medicine, RSCM–FKUI (2019–present). He also works as a rheumatologist in Mayapada Kuningan Hospital and Abdi Waluyo Hospital.
Dr. Faisal is a committed member of multiple national and international professional societies, including the Indonesian Rheumatology Association, Indonesian Society of Internal Medicine, Indonesian Medical Association, Indonesian Society of Osteoporosis, Indonesian Pain Society, APLAR Young Rheumatologists (AYR), and the International Society for Cell & Gene Therapy (ISCT).
His research spans osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, autoimmune connective tissue diseases, biomarkers in rheumatology, mental health in rheumatic disease, and digital health and telemedicine. Recent publications include studies on knee osteoarthritis in Indonesian communities (Int J Rheum Dis, 2025), patient‑reported outcomes (Reumatol Clin, 2024), myocardial performance index in autoimmune disease (Lupus Sci Med, 2024), curcumin efficacy (J Rheum Dis, 2024), and mesenchymal stem cell therapy for lupus nephritis (Rheumatology and Autoimmunity, 2023).
He has received several competitive grants, including support from the Japan College of Rheumatology (2025), the International League of Associations for Rheumatology (2024), a PUTI Grant (2023), and the Takeda International Fellowship (2022).
Dr. Faisal remains dedicated to advancing rheumatology practice in Indonesia through clinical service, education, and impactful research.
